My Mk2 Galaxy Is Hard To Start Plus Misfires In Low Revs

Hi, i have a ford galaxy 1.9tdi 90 on a 2001 plate, its a nightmare to start but after many attempts it does start but smokes for a while, it sounds and feels like its missing in low revs. also whilst you are driving the car lacks no power at all and on the motorways you would,nt think there was anything wrong with it. can some one please help me?.

Can I ask you have you just bought the car with this problem? or has the car just suddenly decided not to start?

 

Try this, turn ignition on without starting engine, do you hear a funny squelch type noise from under the car? it only lasts a moment so listen carefully.

If you don't hear anything then the electric intank pump probably isnt working, also check what the LED on the drivers door does when you start engine.

I cant say i recall a sound but will try that tommorow and yes i bought the car with this fault even drove it 200 miles on motorway with no problems you would think nothings wrong, but winding the guts out of it to start it cant be doing it much good plus im affraid i might do more damage? but it does smoke bad when you first start it. thank you.
